Digitizing botanical drawing

A class to learn how to draw botanical art, digitize it, and design ornaments.

"Ornaments" are decorations used to brighten up monograms such as logos and ceiling stamps.

In this class, we will draw botanical pictures and finish the ornaments.

You will spend a day learning how to digitize while preserving that handwritten feel.

As a bonus, we will make a sealing stamp using the finished ornament and deliver it to your home.

Morning sessionNow, we will learn from the basics how to draw line drawings while looking at the plants in question. You can learn how to design well-balanced ornaments based on basic ornament types, including the structure.

Afternoon sessionNow, you'll learn how to digitize the ornaments you made this morning.

Learn how to use Adobe Illustrator and the iPad app (Procreate) to digitize on both devices.

If you only have one or the other, I think this will be helpful when considering purchasing in the future.

As a finishing touch, select one of the sealing stamps sold at the Liberty Calligraphy online store with the stamp size and handle of your choice, and the completed stamp will be delivered to your home at a later date.

Every month, we will hold a class where you will design ornaments using the plants you have chosen.

■Determine the base of the ornament you want to make

Select the type of ornament you want to make from the templates.

■Learn botanical drawing

Learn how to draw while closely observing plants with a theme that changes every month.

We will also tell you how to draw it to match the style of the base ornament, and the layout to make it look stylish.

Use a drawing pen to trace the drawing and create an image for digitization.

■Learn the basic styles of monograms

We will tell you simple layouts and rules for writing monograms using modern calligraphy.

■Learn about digitizing ornaments

I will tell you how to digitize it using Adobe Illustrator and the iPad app (Procreate).

Each has different characteristics and usage. If you have both devices, please bring them both.

It is useful for importing stamps and printed materials.

The sealing stamp will arrive approximately one month after submission.
